Khirby started from frustration. As a studio building systems for clients, we had our own problem: no available CRM fit the way we actually worked. HubSpot was too expensive and bloated. Pipedrive too simple. Client-built solutions too closed for AI integrations.
We decided to build the CRM we wanted to use ourselves — and make it public.
What was built
- Sales pipeline — Kanban with drag & drop, configurable stages
- Contact and lead management with SSE real-time updates
- Company mailbox — IMAP/SMTP + Google OAuth
- Task boards — Project → Module → Task → Subtask
- Forms and SDK (@khirby/forms-client) for collecting leads from landing pages
- Plugin architecture — @khirby/plugin-sdk for community extensions
- MCP Server — built-in integration with AI agents (Claude, Cursor, etc.)
- RBAC — granular permissions: admin / manage / user
Results in the first 2 days (organic)
- 90+ Docker Hub pulls
- 120–150 npm package downloads (@khirby/*)
- 40+ GitHub stars — without any promotional campaign
